Felcia has been a member of St. John’s Parish since 1965. She had
moved here from Gary, West Virginia with her husband and three sons.
She worked at Don Kenny in Rural Retreat and was a supervisor for ten
years at Buster Brown in Marion.
Upon arriving in Marion, she and her family bought a new house on
Middle Avenue and has lived there ever since. Her husband, Mike worked
as a miner and at Industrial Welding before passing away in 1971. Two
of her sons, Roger and Dennis, are members of St. John’s and are often
seen ushering on Sundays. She has seven grandchildren and four great
grandchildren, the youngest being three years old.
Felcia began cleaning and caring for the church linens when she first
came to St. John’s and has been doing it ever since. Over the ensuing
years she gradually took on the responsibility of cleaning the church
and parish hall and coordinates decorating the church on holidays and
special occasions.
She says her main hobbies are sewing quilts and working. No matter
what function is held at our church, you’ll find Felcia lending a
hand-- from making and selling crafts to washing up after pot-luck
dinners. For many years it has been a tradition every Sunday for her to
host her extended family at her house for dinner. She does all the
cooking. Among the favorite dishes she makes are spaghetti and meat
balls and meat loaf.

The Morris family moved to Marion in
June2006 – their seventh location in the past twelve years. Each of the
four family members was born in a different state. The reason is that
Greg is active duty in the Army. His current job is the company
commander for the Army reserve unit here in Marion. Weekends often
find him away on training missions.
Their son Jacob is eight years old and is in the third grade. He
is involved in karate, baseball and boy scouts. He was a big hit in
last year’s youth play here at St. John’s and will be entertaining us
again in January with a little magic.
Their daughter Abbey will be five years old in January and is in
pre-school at the Methodist church. She and Jacob can often be seen
bringing up the gifts during Mass.
The family enjoys their golden retriever and planning fun
activities together on weekends. Their favorite vacation spot is
Disney World where Stacey and Greg spent their honeymoon and have taken
the children several times.
Stacey says that their favorite place to eat is the Outback.
Perhaps one reason is that is where they ate together just before Greg
proposed to her. He, however, has no memory of that.
We almost lost the family this month when Greg received orders that
he was to report for duty in Iraq. However, his orders were changed
and they hope to be with us for at least the next six months. We are
certainly thankful for that.
